These natural sea sponges are beneficial for several things. The minerals contained in sea sponges nourish and benefit the skin. These minerals include, but are not limited to: calcium, magnesium, sodium, iron, zinc, and potassium. Sea sponges are antibacterial making them a perfect reusable resource. The string these come with are hemp cord/string and are resistant to bacteria and mildew just like the sponges. Since these are completely natural, no 2 are alike, sizes vary. Roughly between 1.5 - 2.5 inches each. These have numerous uses from facial uses, to arts and craft, to personal care (such as tampons). These can also be used to prevent a mess when having sex while on your period, or if used with a natural spermicide can be inserted prior to sex to help prevent pregnancy.
Why prefer Natural Sea Sponge?
First of all sponges are naturally anti-bacterial and natural sucker. Our bodies are made up of water and sponges once lived in waters so perfect for moon cycle. They're reusable (at least 3-6 cycles) good for the environment and budget. But keep in mind that it can change in colour or go to pieces in time of use.
These are available with 4 options, without strings (sponges only), with strings (sponges have strings and come with extra), and with a collapsible holder for on the go (sponges with or without strings, extra strings if sponges have strings). They ship together inside a drawstring bag with a small slip containing instructions for cleaning and use.
They’re easy to clean, by using a natural chemical-free soap or soak for 5-10 minutes in a cup of warm water with ONE of the following:
2-3 drops tea tree oil
1 tbsp vinegar
1 tbsp baking soda (helps restore volume and density)
1 tsp hydrogen peroxide (helps eliminate discoloration).
Do not put in boiling water. Boiling shrinks and toughens sea sponges. Do not use harsh soaps or chemicals! Do not soak your sponges longer than the recommended time as it could cause the sponge to deteriorate faster. These last 3-6 months or longer and are biodegradable. These actually help the oceans because these are sustainably harvested. Meaning they remove the sponge a few inches from its base. This allows it to grow back and allows the growth to become bigger than they previously were. They also don't cluster harvest, meaning they dont cut them in big clusters, they are spaced out so it's not detrimental to the environment for fish and other creatures.
For use as tampons:
These hold about 1oz of fluid each. Its roughly a little more than a regular sized tampon holds. These conform to your body, the size can be intimidating but they compress easily.
* Note: If you’re uncomfortable with the thought of touching your own blood, you may not want to give these sea sponges a shot, because cleaning the sponge most certainly involves getting your hands dirty
